Your Statutory Rights Are Unaffected
This 12-month limited warranty is additional to your statutory UK consumer rights.
It does not replace, restrict or remove any legal remedy available when a product is faulty, damaged, unsafe, not as described or not fit for its intended purpose.
Depending on the circumstances, your statutory remedies may include repair, replacement, a price reduction or a refund. These rights may continue after the limited warranty has expired.
1. Warranty Period
New electric bikes purchased from Megascootz are covered against qualifying manufacturing defects for 12 months from the date of delivery.
The 12-month period applies to:
- The frame
- The supplied traction battery
- The motor
- The controller
- The display
- Original electrical components
- Other original non-consumable components
Where a product page or written confirmation from Megascootz provides a longer warranty period, the longer stated period will apply.
The warranty is intended for the original consumer purchaser and applies to products purchased directly from Megascootz.
2. What the Warranty Covers
The warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship that:
- Existed when the product was delivered; or
- Become apparent during normal and intended use within the warranty period.
Each claim will be assessed individually. We may consider:
- The reported fault
- The age of the product
- How the product has been used
- Maintenance and storage
- Photographs or videos
- Diagnostic information
- Inspection findings
- Whether an excluded event caused or contributed to the problem
A product or component will not be excluded simply because it is listed as a wear item if the actual problem is a manufacturing defect rather than normal wear.
3. Frame Warranty
The frame is covered for 12 months against manufacturing defects in its materials or construction.
The warranty does not cover frame damage caused by:
- A collision or impact
- Overloading
- Stunt riding or racing
- Misuse
- Corrosion caused by neglect
- Unauthorised modification
- Incorrect assembly or repair
- Use outside the manufacturer’s stated purpose or limits
These exclusions apply only where the excluded event caused or contributed to the reported damage.
4. Battery Warranty
The traction battery supplied with the electric bike is covered for 12 months against manufacturing defects.
A manufacturing defect may include an internal fault that prevents the battery from operating normally when it has been correctly charged, used and stored.
Normal and gradual reduction in battery capacity is not considered a manufacturing defect. Battery capacity can naturally reduce because of:
- Age
- Charging cycles
- Usage
- Storage conditions
- Temperature
- Normal cell degradation
Battery claims will be assessed using the product’s age, reported symptoms, charging history, storage conditions and available diagnostic information.
5. Motor, Controller and Electrical Components
The original motor, controller, display and electrical components are covered for 12 months against manufacturing defects arising during normal use.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by:
- Water exposure beyond the product’s stated protection level
- Incorrect wiring or assembly
- An incompatible battery, charger or replacement part
- Unauthorised firmware changes
- Speed-restriction removal or tuning
- Tampering
- Unauthorised repair or modification
- Collision, impact, misuse or neglect
An exclusion will apply only where the relevant action or event caused or contributed to the fault.
6. Wear Items and Consumable Components
The warranty does not cover replacement required solely because of normal wear and use.
Wear items include:
- Tyres
- Inner tubes
- Brake pads
- Brake discs
- Chains
- Cassettes and sprockets
- Bearings
- Pedals
- Saddles
- Grips
- Cables
- Cosmetic finishes
However, these components may still be covered where the problem results from a manufacturing defect rather than ordinary wear, accidental damage or misuse.
7. What the Warranty Does Not Cover
The limited warranty does not cover faults or damage caused by:
- Normal wear
- Punctures
- Collision or impact damage
- Accidents
- Misuse or neglect
- Racing or stunt use
- Overloading
- Corrosion caused by improper care or storage
- Improper cleaning
- Incorrect assembly or maintenance
- Improper transportation or storage
- Failure to follow the supplied instructions
- Exposure to excessive water or moisture
- Use of an incompatible or unapproved charger, battery or component
- Unsafe charging practices
- Unauthorised repairs or modifications
- Tampering with the motor, controller, display or battery
- Removal or alteration of a speed restriction
- Use outside the product’s stated purpose or operating limits
- Cosmetic marks that do not affect operation and were accepted at purchase
These exclusions apply only where the relevant action, condition or event caused or materially contributed to the problem.
They do not remove your statutory rights concerning a fault that was present at delivery.
8. Basic Battery Care
Only use the charger supplied with the product or another charger expressly approved for that battery.
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions concerning charging, use and storage. In particular:
- Charge in a dry and ventilated location.
- Use a stable, non-combustible surface.
- Keep the battery away from extreme heat or cold.
- Do not store the battery fully discharged.
- Do not use a damaged charger or charging cable.
- Do not dismantle or modify the battery.
- Stop using the battery if it appears swollen, leaking, punctured or unusually hot.
Failure to follow the care instructions will affect a warranty claim only where it caused or contributed to the reported problem.
9. How to Make a Warranty Claim
To make a claim, contact [email protected].
Please provide:
- Your full name
- Your order number
- The electric-bike model
- The serial number, where available
- A clear description of the problem
- When the problem started
- Photographs or videos showing the issue
- Photographs showing the general condition of the product
- Details of any relevant warning or error code
We may ask you to complete reasonable troubleshooting steps. You should only perform troubleshooting that is safe and within your ability.
Do not dismantle the motor, controller or battery. Do not independently return a lithium-ion battery without receiving written transport instructions from Megascootz.
10. Inspection and Diagnosis
Depending on the reported problem, we may arrange:
- Remote diagnosis
- Safe troubleshooting
- Inspection by an approved local bicycle technician
- A written repair quotation from a local workshop
- Collection of the electric bike
- Inspection by an authorised repair provider
- Another reasonable form of assessment
If we ask you to visit a local bicycle workshop, obtain a written quotation and send it to us before authorising any chargeable work.
Do not commission or pay for a repair expecting reimbursement unless Megascootz approved the quotation in writing beforehand.
Unauthorised repair work may affect a warranty claim where that work caused, worsened or prevented proper assessment of the fault.
11. Warranty Remedies
If we confirm that the fault is covered by this limited warranty, we will arrange a reasonable remedy.
Depending on the product and fault, this may include:
- Supplying a replacement part
- Authorising a local repair
- Repairing the product after collection
- Replacing the defective component
- Replacing the product
- Another remedy agreed with you
Megascootz will cover reasonable authorised costs for:
- Diagnosis
- Replacement parts
- Repair work
- Collection
- Return transportation
Replacement parts may be new or functionally equivalent parts of suitable quality.
Where lawful, a component replaced under warranty may become the property of Megascootz.
Nothing in this section limits a different remedy that you may be entitled to receive under UK consumer law.
12. Claims Not Covered by the Warranty
If an inspection finds that the problem was not caused by a covered manufacturing defect, we will explain the findings and available options.
We will not charge an avoidable inspection, collection or repair cost without informing you beforehand.
Any proposed charge must be explained before chargeable work or transportation is arranged.
You may choose whether to approve a chargeable repair after receiving the relevant information.
13. Warranty Repair Time
We will aim to complete an approved warranty repair within a reasonable period.
The time required may depend on:
- The nature of the problem
- Diagnostic requirements
- Replacement-part availability
- Courier arrangements
- Workshop availability
- Manufacturer or supplier assistance
We will provide updates if a repair or replacement is delayed.
14. Remaining Warranty After a Repair or Replacement
A repaired product or replacement component remains covered for the longer of:
- The unexpired part of the original 12-month warranty; or
- Any minimum period required by applicable law.
A repair or component replacement does not automatically restart the original 12-month warranty period.
This does not limit any separate statutory consumer rights.
15. Proof of Purchase and Serial Numbers
We may request reasonable proof that the product was purchased from Megascootz.
Suitable evidence may include:
- An order confirmation
- An invoice
- A payment record
- Other evidence identifying the transaction
We may also request the frame or product serial number where it is available.
Lack of the original packaging does not by itself remove your statutory rights or automatically invalidate a valid manufacturing-defect claim.
However, suitable packaging may be required to transport the product safely. We will provide instructions if collection is necessary.
16. Unsafe or Damaged Batteries
Do not continue using or charging a battery that is:
- Swollen
- Leaking
- Smoking
- Punctured
- Producing a strong or unusual smell
- Making unusual sounds
- Excessively hot
- Seriously damaged
If there is an immediate fire or safety risk, move away from the area, keep other people away and contact the emergency services.
Do not attempt to post, courier or personally transport a seriously damaged lithium-ion battery without professional instructions.
Contact Megascootz for guidance when it is safe to do so.
