VITILAN L5 Urban Commuter Electric Bike

The VITILAN L5 is an urban commuter electric bike built around a fully integrated aluminium alloy step-through frame and 26-inch wheels. Its low-frame design provides easier mounting and dismounting, while the 26 × 2.4-inch Kenda tyres give the bike a balanced format for commuting, leisure riding, paved routes and suitable gravel surfaces. The L5 is a full-size urban bike rather than a folding model.

Electric assistance is provided by a 500W rated brushless hub motor with a stated peak output of 960W and maximum torque of 65Nm. A torque sensor responds to rider pedalling input and adjusts motor support accordingly, while the Shimano 7-speed drivetrain provides mechanical gear selection for different gradients and riding conditions. The published maximum speed is approximately 25 mph, and a thumb throttle provides direct motor control.

The removable 48V 15Ah Samsung lithium-ion battery has a stated capacity of 720Wh. Published technical specifications give an assisted riding range of approximately 65 miles and a throttle riding range of approximately 40 miles. The battery can be removed for separate charging, while the electrical system uses a 54.6V 2A charger and a 48V 20A controller.

Actual riding range varies according to rider weight, total payload, assistance level, throttle use, gradients, average speed, tyre pressure, temperature, wind, road surface and stopping frequency. Higher speeds, frequent acceleration, steep climbs and extensive throttle use increase battery consumption, while consistent rider input and moderate assistance settings can reduce electrical demand. The 65-mile figure represents the maximum published pedal-assist range rather than a fixed distance for every journey.

The L5 uses 26 × 2.4-inch Kenda tyres with a puncture-resistant liner and an adjustable spring suspension fork. This configuration provides front suspension for absorbing vibration and impacts from uneven surfaces while retaining a conventional rigid rear frame. The aluminium alloy chassis, full-size wheels and urban tyre profile are designed around everyday commuting and general-purpose riding rather than the wide fat-tyre format used on some other VITILAN models.

Braking is handled by 180mm front and rear hydraulic disc brakes, while the Shimano drivetrain includes an RD-TY300 rear derailleur, SL-TX50-7R shifter and seven-speed 14–28T cassette. The L5 also features a multifunction colour display, thumb throttle, integrated LED headlight, rear LED light with turn-signal functionality and IPX6-rated electrical components as stated by the manufacturer. Bike weight is approximately 69.4 lb, while the maximum published load is 330 lb.
